President-elect Donald Trump will nominate former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as ambassador to Israel, Trump announced Tuesday.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has been tapped to be the next U.S. ambassador to Israel. President-elect Donald Trump said Huckabee will work to bring "peace in the Middle East."

If confirmed, Mr. Huckabee, a former pastor who has never served as an overseas diplomat, would play a crucial role in helping Mr. Trump try to end the war in Gaza.
