Shubman Gill is touted to take the No.3 spot in the Indian batting line-up in the first Test against Australia, provided he is fit to play.

While the fracture is deemed minor, Gill is racing against time in a desperate bid to recover for the second Test, which is a day-night affair starting on December 6 in Adelaide.

India suffered a scare as Shubman Gill fractured his thumb during a practice session at the WACA as per reports. The player is all set to miss the first Test and a couple of names have been floated to be his replacement in Perth.

India will face Australia in the first Test in Perth on November 22. Ahead of the match a number of players including Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill faced injury concerns.

According to a BCCI source privy to the development, Gill has indeed fractured his left thumb and with less than a week left for the Test to start, it will be near impossible for the stylish right-hander to get fit in time for the opening match.
